Savoy Restaurant, Asheville, NC

We have been on a roll with the great restaurants this week.

Savoy is another superb restaurant to add to the list. http://www.savoyasheville.com/

First of all, our server Ian was truly one of the best and most knowledgeable people we have ever had the pleasure to deal with in a restaurant. He actually cared about the food and the drinks. Any question we had about the food he was extremely informative. We asked for his choice of wine suggestions and he brought over 2 half glasses as samples. This is what great service is about.

The food was creative and delicious. We enjoyed every last morsel. The menu offers a variety of eclectic small plates and full size entrees. We split a bunch of tapas, one entree and one dessert.

Some of the tapas included delicious, anchovy stuffed peppers, escargot over polenta, blue crab fritters and a number of other really great dishes. I've never been a big fan of crab cakes...mainly because the crab taste is overpowered by fillers like pepper and rubbery crap. The crab critters at Savoy were unreal.....they were basically giant clumps of crab meat with a perfectly crisp outer layer. Perfect!

We also met the very talented chef who definitely knows what she is doing. Her apple fritters are a must have...they are absolutely delicious.

Savoy also has a great selection of wine, beer and cocktails. Plus, the dim lighting and cool artwork contribute to the relaxed and hip vibe. We can't say enough great thing about our dinner at Savoy.

You should really leave when they shut the lights off and no one else is at any of the tables!!
